There is a great adage that says “don’t treat others the way you wish to be treated, treat them the way they wish to be treated”. This is the basis of learning the Enneagram in team contexts. Understand yourself and your colleagues better for conflict resolution, communication, feedback and general development.
In hierarchical corporate environments, individuals adhere to systems around authority. This ultimately revolves around competition and control and is based on the fear of anarchy. What possibilities may open up for us if we moved into a synarchic structure where there’s collective leadership and joint decision making? In this structure we begin to harbour service, creativity and individual uniqueness.
So, what is the solution to the hierarchy dilemma? An evolutionary passage of transformation from hierarchy to synarchy is solely based on awareness, where the only difference between the two is perception and behaviour. This workshops opens the doors to creating a synarchy and truly productive environment where people feel valued and purposeful in their roles.
The Enneagram is a personality profiling tool that operates at both a behavioural level as well as at a subconscious and motivational level. At a behavioural level it is an archetypal tool that speaks of nine different personality types who show up in the world in different behavioural ways. The nine types include the peacemaker, the perfectionist, the helper, the achiever, the creative, the specialist, the sceptic, the adventurer, and the controller. This makes it a fun, interactive tool where we can begin to understand the fact that we can’t treat others the way we want to be treated but the way THEY want to be treated as we are all so different in the way we show up.
At a subconscious level is where the Enneagram’s real juice lives. It identifies an individual’s motivations that lie at a non-conscious level and motivate the behaviour we’re seeing. This motivation is always at the root of where our misunderstandings and conflicts lie and when we understand this, we’re in a position to have honest communication and make real changes and deep, meaningful connections.
This workshops opens the door to vulnerability based leadership where deep seated trust is built. And from there, a clean and inspired team based on synarchic structures.
