We’re not taught how to feel and so as teenagers and adults emotions are confusing, disruptive and lead to anxiety and overwhelm. This workshop teaches the accurate emotion for the contexts we find ourselves in as well as what they’re needing from us so that, ultimately, we find ourselves free of anxiety.
Stress is nothing new. However, the strains the COVID-19 pandemic placed on people has completely compounded those stress levels. The impact of stress has serious consequences on our minds, our bodies and our productivity. To make matters worse, many people feel that their job and their income is one of the most stressful things in their life. For these reasons, it is essential for us to recognise when we are experiencing high burnout and do something about it.
The body is made up of molecules of emotion which makes the essence of it an emotional one. The only problems you are ever going to have are ‘other people’ and the only solution to every problem is going to be YOU. In this sense, if you are emotionally smart and healthy, you will make better-informed choices. But if we’re honest with ourselves, we fear our choices and the potential of making the wrong ones. Understanding emotions and their inherent wisdom leads to better choices and the ease of making them.
Anxiety has become synonymous with our daily existence. But the power of a word like anxiety that says so little about what emotional response our bodies are actually experiencing is completely overlooked by our familiarity to its use. ‘Anxiety’ doesn’t help to illuminate what you are feeling or to understand your emotional response to a situation or thought. It does exactly the opposite. It dislocates. This workshop teaches you how to feel. Simple. But something as simple as feeling authentically is a revolutionary act if you have never learned to discern anticipation from excitement or frustration from hopelessness. In learning to locate what you feel, you place yourself in a position to respond appropriately. And it is precisely this knowledge that frees you from the constant frictions and turmoil of dislocation, or what we call anxiety.
